MVP Cricket vs Pitchero.

Pitchero is a club website and admin platform for many sports, with an official Play-Cricket integration and a full membership system. MVP Cricket has no website builder, but costs far less and is built around what players open every week: their MVP points.

The short version

If your priority is a full club website with sponsors, ticketing, lottery and membership in one platform, Pitchero does that and MVP Cricket doesn’t. If your priority is running the cricket (availability, selection, team sheets and match fees, with a leaderboard that gets players into the app), MVP Cricket does it for a fraction of the price, and alongside any club website you already have.

Where Pitchero is the better fit

  • You want your club website, sponsors, lottery, ticketing and membership on one platform.
  • You need club email accounts and a custom domain from the same provider.
  • You run teams across several sports.

Where MVP Cricket is the better fit

  • You already have a club website, or don’t need one, and want the season run from the app.
  • You want an MVP leaderboard and Player of the Match from every scorecard, free.
  • You want to collect match fees without a £418-a-year plan and a percentage on top of Stripe’s.
  • Captains want published team sheets with one-tap confirmations and a shareable team sheet image.

What it costs a club in a season

Take a club collecting £15,000 in a season, in 1,000 card payments averaging £15, all on standard UK cards.

On MVP Cricket’s Club plan that costs £99 for the year, plus Stripe’s own fees of £425 (1.5% + 20p a payment), paid to Stripe from the club’s account: £524 in total, and none of the £425 comes to us.

On Pitchero, collecting payments needs a paid plan. On Standard (£418 a year), at the rate for a club that is neither VAT-registered nor a charity (2.90% + 20p), the same season costs £435 + £200 = £635 in fees: £1,053 in total. On Pro it’s £1,089 plus 2.20% + 20p: £1,619.

So on these numbers MVP Cricket is around £530 a season cheaper than Pitchero Standard, though Pitchero’s price also buys a club website.

One caveat in fairness: on MVP Cricket, premium and corporate cards cost more at Stripe (2.8% + 20p), so a club whose members pay mostly on premium cards will pay a little more in Stripe fees than these figures.

Switching

Every club starts on MVP Cricket’s Free plan: connect Play-Cricket with your site ID and the leaderboard and stats fill from the season you’ve already played, so you can run both side by side before deciding. How the Play-Cricket sync works.
