MVP leaderboard

Every scorecard, printed as points.

Runs, wickets, catches, run-outs and, yes, drops cost you. Every Play-Cricket scorecard becomes MVP points on a public club leaderboard: a season-long race your players will follow, share and argue about. Free forever.

How MVP points work

Every performance earns points, weighted by your club’s own formula. Points are calculated per match, add up across the season, and decide Player of the Match automatically on every result.

A worked example

On MVP Cricket’s standard formula, the one Brookweald plays to, a 52 with six fours and a six, plus a catch, scores:

52 runs at 1 point a run52
Six fours (+1 each) and a six (+2)8
Fifty bonus10
One catch5
Match total75
…and one dropped catch at slip−5

Wickets are worth 15, with bonuses for maidens, 3-fors and 5-fors and for tight economy; a duck costs 10. Every value is the club’s to change, and T20s can score differently from longer games.

Boards for everything

  • The season MVP race, filtered by team, competition and discipline.
  • Batting, bowling and fielding boards, including a most-drops board. All in good fun. Mostly.
  • Player of the Match on every result, with the points that earned it.
  • Full player stats, per season and all-time, synced from Play-Cricket every morning.

A board anyone can open

Every club gets a public leaderboard page: no login, built to be dropped into the WhatsApp group and shared after every weekend. It shows names, matches and points, and nothing else. The same numbers are available as a feed your club website can display. Brookweald’s board is live: that’s what yours looks like after its first sync.

Season Wrapped

At the end of the season every player gets their own Wrapped: MVP points and club rank, appearances, batting, bowling and fielding, their biggest match and a comparison with last season, as a swipeable page with a shareable image. It’s on the Free plan, deliberately: it’s the thing players show their mates.

Why a leaderboard runs the club

A leaderboard sounds like a gimmick until you see what it does to the rest of the admin. Players who open the app every week to check their points are already there when the availability poll arrives, when the side is published and when the match fee link lands. That’s how it worked at Brookweald.

Questions

Is the leaderboard really free?

Yes, forever. The public MVP leaderboard, full player stats, daily Play-Cricket sync and Season Wrapped are all on the Free plan: no card, no trial clock, no expiry.

Can we change how points are scored?

Yes. The club sets the formula: points per run, boundary and milestone bonuses, wickets, maidens, 3-for and 5-for bonuses, economy bands, catches, stumpings, run-outs, and penalties for ducks, drops and misfields. Change it and recompute the season in one press.

Do T20s score the same as a 45-over game?

They don’t have to. Short formats can carry their own values, so a six or a wicket in a T20 is worth more. MVP Cricket detects T20s from the scheduled overs, and you can pin a format per team or per match.

Who can see the leaderboard?

Anyone with the link: it’s a public page with no login, built to be shared in the WhatsApp group. It shows names, matches and points, nothing more. The same numbers are available as a feed for your club website.

How do drops get counted?

Drops and misfields aren’t on a Play-Cricket scorecard, so they’re recorded on match day in the app, and they come off the player’s total. Yes, there’s a most-drops board.

The MVP leaderboard is free forever: no card, no trial clock. Your board is live after the first sync.
